Georgia's highest point at 4,784 feet. The observation deck provides spectacular mountain views, and on a clear day you can see into Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. There are also several hiking options.

Lake Chatuge

This is the centerpiece of Hiawassee. The lake has about 132 miles of shoreline and is excellent for boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming and simply enjoying the scenery.

The Oaks Lakeside Kitchen

If you're looking for the nicer dinner experience, this would be my first choice. It's at The Ridges Resort overlooking Lake Chatuge and is more upscale than the typical mountain-town restaurant.

It currently has one of the strongest local/traveler ratings in Hiawassee, with particular praise for BBQ, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and sides.
